LLamasoft acquires LogicTools from IBM

On April 1, 2015 LLamasoft announced that it had acquired IBM’s LogicTools Supply Chain Applications Business Unit. The acquisition strengthens LLamasoft’s domination in the supply chain design software category by removing a major competitor from the marketplace. Although LLamasoft plans to support customers using LogicTools for now, there’s little incentive for users to stick with LogicTools long term as LLamasoft already offers considerable advantages over LogicTools for companies engaged in steady supply chain design work. This latest move by LLamasoft ups the pressure on other supply chain software vendors to invest in further product enhancements to keep pace with LLamasoft’s ascendancy in the area of supply chain design.
