Cloud supply chain software boosts payback

Although only a third of companies have deployed any type of cloud-based solutions for supply chain software, those that do get a quicker payback than businesses using traditional on-premise deployments. A study of supply chain and logistics executives by Nucleus Research found that 53 percent of companies deploying cloud solutions said they speeded up payback on the investment. Two hundred and fifteen managers took part in the study.

Past Nucleus research supports faster time to value for cloud solutions, having found that companies typically get a 1.7 times higher payback with online as opposed to on-premise deployments. Even though some major supply chain vendors still don’t offer cloud solutions for their applications, supply chain and information technology (IT) executives need to consider online software tools to maximize return on investment (ROI).
