Paychex provides midmarket value
Human capital management (HCM) drives its value outward from payroll, the epicenter. To drive value for its customers’ midmarket solutions, the vendor need not offer all the bells and whistles that enterprise-focused solutions do. Instead, midmarket buyers first focus on solid payroll systems, the rest of workforce management (WFM), and only then strong talent acquisition. As Nucleus noted in this year’s HCM Value Matrix, Paychex has followed this path, making the vendor a leading vendor of HCM technology for midmarket companies (Nucleus Research r160 – HCM Technology Value Matrix 2017, August 2017).
