SAP delves deeper into process automation

In December 2020, SAP announced during its TechED conference the development of multiple digital process automation (DPA) technologies on the SAP Cloud Platform Extension Suite. SAP Cloud Platform Workflow Management and SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation 2.0 (Intelligent RPA) saw functionality updates, and SAP launched its new SAP Ruum solution to address the need for the automation of manual and repetitive tasks at different skill levels. Nucleus determined three key benefits that customers are likely to achieve with SAP’s DPA products, including increased user productivity, decreased operational costs, and improved data quality. If SAP continues to hit its DPA roadmap goals and Ruum launches out of beta, Nucleus expects the vendor to drive adoption and customer retention to the SAP Cloud Platform. As users can quickly build out extensions to their existing technology ecosystem through DPA, the necessity to search for solutions outside of SAP’s offerings is decreased.
